We always love giving our patients good news! Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review!

"Actually, not Andy, but his wife Kim! I've been going to WCD for almost 20 years. I don't remember who I saw in the early years, but for the years I do remember, Tara has been my hygienist. Very nice and proficient. Today, I went in for a cleaning and thought that I had chipped a back tooth. Come to find out it was just leaked "filling" from a tooth filling back in September, easily fixed by a small drill to remove the roughness. Thought I was going to have to have another tooth pulled...LOL! Whew, got lucky on that one!"

How long do dental implants last?
Dental implants are designed to last for your entire lifetime, as long as you care for them properly with regular brushing and flossing and ensure you get the nutrition that supports the jaw bone that holds your implants in place. In a nutshell, as long as you do all the “right” things as far as dental care is concerned, your dental implants will last just as long as healthy natural teeth,

Do dental implants require special care?
Your implants will require the same type of care as your natural teeth – regular and proper brushing and flossing, good nutrition and regular dental checkups to ensure your teeth and gums are in the best shape possible.

What is the implant procedure like?
The implant procedure usually occurs in three steps. In the initial step, the implant bases will be placed in your jaw in preparation for the placement of the final implants. These bases will need several months to bond with the underlying bone before they'll be strong enough to support the implant and the pressures placed on it. During this time, you'll be given a bridge or denture to wear so your mouth looks and functions the way it should. You'll probably be asked to eat a soft diet during the first week or two to allow the bases to “settle in.”

In the second step, metal posts will be attached to the implant bases. These posts will be used to support the denture, or “faux” tooth, which will be placed in the third visit. Also during the second visit, measurements will be made to enable your faux teeth to be fabricated.

In the third phase, the new teeth are attached to the posts and any shaping or adjustments are made to ensure a good fit and natural appearance.

Coffee, tea, colas, smoke, acidic juices, certain medication, and highly pigmented foods can take a dingy toll on pearly whites. Aging also tends to darken your teeth even more. Over time, service animal cracks and roads, exposing Denton, the less dense interior of the tooth, which absorbs food color. Stains also latch onto the plaque and tartar buildup on and between teeth, finding Anchorage and crevices. The good news is that many common tooth stains can often be washed away between professional cleanings. Can you share the brush after every meal, rents often, use an antibacterial mouthwash, use a whitening toothpaste, and sit through a straw when you can. Limiting exposure to certain beverages can help prevent and reduce tooth stains. Keep these prevention methods in mind in between your annual dentist visits. Dental implants have quickly become popular amongst people who are missing teeth thanks to the amazing results they provide. Here at West Cobb Dentistry, your professional Kennesaw dentist, we would like to discuss some of the benefits of dental implants and why they have become a popular choice for tooth replacement.

Do You Have A Cavity? We Offer Composite White Fillings

Composite white fillings offer the ability to effectively deal with cavities while maintaining the cosmetic appeal of a bright, white smile.

Benefits of Composite White Fillings

  • Created to match your tooth to ensure a natural look and feel
  • Because composite fillings can be created for smaller restorations, less of your tooth structure is lost and less drilling is needed
  • The material is made from acrylic and glass particles, containing no mercury or other metals
  • Provides support to remaining tooth structure and insulates against temperature changes

The Filling Process

  • First, the targeted tooth is prepared by removing decay.
  • Next, a bonding agent is applied to the prepared tooth.
  • The composite material is placed and molded to your tooth structure.
  • The material is hardened by focusing intense light rays on it for about a minute (the time required may vary according to each patient’s needs and specific dental condition).

For more information on composite white fillings or to schedule an appointment, call West Cobb Dentistry at (770) 794-3332.

If you rarely visit the dentist, it is not uncommon for a lot of things to go wrong with the teeth. It could be root canal infections, cavities, chips, and a host of problems. That is why it is imperative that you’re not skipping the scheduled dental appointment. The Kennesaw dentist that you’re working with will be able to identify potential problems before getting out of hand. Before you consider replacing your natural teeth, here are some of the reasons why you should save them.

Safer

It goes without saying that saving your natural teeth will be the safest option. There will always be risks and complications with any medical procedure and a dental implant is no exception. With tooth extraction, there is the risk of excessive bleeding, adjacent teeth moving, sinus perforation, and infections. There is the chance that the infection from the teeth could spread to other parts of the body thus leading to serious health problems. A good dentist will recommend saving natural teeth whenever possible and only opt for an extraction when there is no other solution.

Extraction is Painful

A tooth extraction will not require anesthesia unless it is completely necessary. Since the tooth has grown down deep down your gums, the dentist might not have any other option but to crack it. The majority of dental patients admit that going through a root canal is far more painful than teeth filling.

Saves You Money

If you look at the rates of tooth filling and extraction, the latter might appear less expensive but that is not always the case. In order to fully understand how much you’ll be expected to pay, you’ll need to understand the additional expenses that come with a tooth extraction. For your teeth to feel and function normally, you might need dental implants or dentures in order to replace the gap. There are also additional costs involved with maintenance. You should look at it from a holistic perspective before dismissing everything.

Maintain Your Smile

When you remove your tooth, there is the risk of the remaining teeth becoming misaligned. Your teeth will shift naturally in order to try and fill the gap. Even if there are ways of filling the gaps, you might experience problems talking or chewing food.

Choosing the Best Dental Practice

Working with a great dentist will come in handy when you’re on the fence. Such a dentist will look at the different treatment options available and recommend the best one depending on your needs. Maintaining your natural teeth is easy and you don’t have to feel awkward in the mouth. As soon as you realize or know that you are pregnant, it is vital to speak with your dentist about a plan. Your dental health is important during this time, and receiving the proper routine dental care is essential.

Your dental team can come up with a care plan that helps you maintain healthy teeth and gums during and after the pregnancy to reduce any issues that may arise. Dental treatments are best to have done during the second trimester while refraining from having them done in the first and towards the end of the third.
